Did you know that drinking coffee in America dates all the way back to the Revolutionary War era in our country’s history? In fact, most colonists drank tea two to three times each day – until they got fed up with the taxation from England and decided to make a stand with the Boston Tea Party. This famous demonstration led by the Sons of Liberty took tea from docked ships and dumped it straight into the Boston Harbor to protest the tax on tea.
Colonists who wanted to show support for the Sons of Liberty did what they could at home – instead of drinking tea they switched to another beverage, coffee! Today coffee is still the most popular choice over tea and it can all be traced back to the early days in American history.
