Sustainability
SUSTAINABLY MINDED. COFFEE DRIVEN.
Our family’s roots are in the coffee farms in the southern mountains of Cuba. Generation after generation of growers and roasters, our deep connection to the land is why we always honor the plant and the people who cultivate it. Because sustainable coffee is our family’s legacy and exceptional quality is how we celebrate it.
We source from partners who share our vision of a greener coffee footprint. From the wet mill construction in Colombia to Farmer Assistance projects in Guatemala, we lead several initiatives that support farmers and their harvest. Once at our zero-waste-to-landfill roastery, the coffee is roasted and packed all in-house outside of downtown Los Angeles, where we’ve been headquartered since 1967.
Today, we proudly source certified coffees from Rainforest Alliance, Fair Trade USA and USDA certified Organic. We have also teamed up with innovative social enterprise, TerraCycle, to extend our environmental efforts beyond the shelf by offering a responsible recycling program for our espresso capsule and coffee pod customers.
It’s important for us to continue creating more harmony among plant, grower, roaster, and drinker. For 150 years, our family has believed a great cup is the culmination of every caring hand it passes, and we are committed to offering future generations a time-honored coffee experience.
